The Scots Guards were operating close to 11 Armd Div at the time. Have not managed to find out what he was doing later until he attained more senior ranks.
Your fellow (ex) Librarian Alan Taylor of the Sunday/Herald has declared that the Jubilee and the Olympics had made him conclude this would be his Annus Horribilis. I presume you will be in solidarity with him on this point.
One of my great-uncles was one of the liberators of Belsen. He managed to get a couple of shell cases out of the place and presented them to my great-grandparents which they used as ornaments on their mantlepiece.
Albert Pierrpoint after hanging a number of the camp guards for years was sent a cheque for £10 with a single accompanying piece of paper saying simply "Belsen".
In respect of the jubilee, a dedication to when royalty could come in handy in Scotland.
These U turns are catching. Why should businesses not pay millions in a supremely evil snp tax? Soak the rich I say.
