Smeato to banjo Glasgow

Been having Manflu symptoms since Monday, not being able to do much except sneeze over the keyboard and pitifully plea for another cup of tea.Dog walking has been farmed out to just about everybody, but still, four pairs of eyes watch my every move...Am going to bite the bullet and take them out after finishing this.

  1. Scunnert, I'm not convinced of his participation.

  4. Conan - he's a novelty candidate. His 15 minutes of fame are being exploited.

  5. Did you see his press conference on the TV? It was agony, he was so bad. So much for the benefits of not having a party apparatus behind you eh! Does he and the Jury Group (or whatever they are called) really think that the people of Glasgow will vote for a clueless scarecrow like him? Based on that performance I reckon he will come behind the Monster Raving Loonies.

  6. He's a spoiler vote. Backed by the Jury Party and most importantly Rebekah Wade editor of the Sun, he's simply there to lure those disenchanted Labour voters who might be persuaded to give the SNP their protest vote.

As the by-election campaign hots up it'll be interesting to see if Smeaton gets more press coverage than the other minor candidates, Greens, Lib Dems, Tories etcetera...

  7. Never underestimate the depths to which Labour will sink. As Monty says, will Labour push the papers to give him more publicity than other minority parties? It's a risky strategy. They might convince people who would still have (somewhat grudgingly) voted Labour to transfer their vote and let the SNP in.
