  1. Hope nobody is cynical enough to question the timing of the conception.

  2. I think that even in politics, kindness really should be exercised on occasion. These people lost a child last year. I hope this pregnancy goes well and brings them joy although it should have no influence one way or another on the election.

  3. Ah Jeanne. Are we so much more cynical on this side of the Atlantic?
Or is it just a man thing...?

  4. I don't know if it's a "man thing" but if it is, then I'm glad I'm immune.

  5. Och Jeanne. I *am* too cynical and you are right to say what you did.
I just can't help the niggling feeling that there are behind the scenes spin docters(of what ever party)looking for a sliver of advantage, however it comes their way.

  6. Jeanne,

According to the UK media it will make a difference, however small, at the election.

  7. It may. But the polls didn't even wiggle upward for the Tories after the announcement so I suspect the affect won't be large.

I don't mean to be harsh, Conan. You should be free to say whatever you want as long as I'm free to say I don't agree. :-)

I am sure that (we're talking about politicians) they'll spin it to their advantage. But even politicians want kids--though having had them I do sometimes wonder why anyone would be so foolish.

  8. You have bairns Jeanne?
I work with other people's...they are the worst kind.
And there is a lot of them.

  9. Conan,

I've been fostering them for nearly twenty years and you're right, sadly, there are a lot of them.

    - Exactly Jeanne, but the fertility ups and downs of this particular couple has absolutely nothing to do with political decisions that have to be made about the future welfare of me, and my community, and the rest of Scotland and the UK.

The fecundity of the democractically elected representatives of liberal democracy is of zero importance.

So why Pseudepigrapha chooses to juxtapose the image of a spider, notorious for their mating habits amongst human males, with a repulsive species of human vote-monger, notorious for doing anything in order to achieve power, even parade the lamentable products of their partner's womb about in public, is beyond me.

  11. Conan, you might want to have an issue for the Blither with Brian BBC Blog--featuring a blank page.
